The exhibition at the Cervantes Institute comprises 82 prints from Goya's series The Disasters of War juxtaposed with war photographs (from the Spanish Civil War, 1936–1930, amongst others). Francisco Goya y Lucientes (1746–1828) – Spanish painter and designer, commonly recognised as the most important artist of the turn of the 19th century – captured the horrors of the Spanish War of Independence, 1808–1814). Complementing Goya's prints with war photographs means that we can look at him as a precursor of war photo reportage. An addition to the exhibition is a multimedia projection.
