Working together since 2012 on the project City-Organism-Machine, a collective of graduates of the Artistic Photography Course – Magdalena Kasprzak, Alina Kręcisz, Agnieszka Kowalik, Dorota Łapa-Maik and Leszek Motyka – at a certain point turned towards people, and their private space. A collective of graduates of the Artistic Photography Course (Magda Kasprzak, Alina Kręcisz, Agnieszka Kowalik, Dorota Łapa-Maik, Leszek Motyka) spent much of last year working on the project City-Organism-Machine in cities in Poland and Germany. The project was completed in autumn 2012 with two exhibitions. The first was organised as part of the Artistic Photography Course 15th Anniversary Photography Festival. The slightly smaller, but no less interesting, second presentation, Der Stadtgeist, documented attempts to use photography to capture the spirit of German cities and urban communities. The photographic exploration of the city space, its structures, rhythm, pulse and what is most mechanical, anonymous, dehumanised in it with time led the project participants to an ever greater interest in people. At first in thinking about the person in the context of the urban/public space, and finally to posing questions on what is closest, most intimate and private. Half a year after these exhibitions, the same artists are looking at the Private Space. They are turning away from the city, or rather becoming independent from it. They find that space which, regardless of the circumstances, remains untouched, personal, private. The project curator is Zbigniew Pozarzycki.
